I have the older 2008 books for the PRM level 1 exam.

I’ll be honest. They are *dreadful*. They attempt to teach technical topics in a half-qualitative / half-quantitative manner, and they utterly fail at both. Not to mention the books are schizophrenic, jumping here and there with no real underlying theme or continuity.

OK, enough about these books. Sadly, I have the 3 books for exam 1.

I’d like to take the PRM level 1 exam. I noticed that the current books are 2015. Can someone tell me if the 2015 books are very much updated from the old 2008 books? Are they practically the same?

They are horrendously expensive, and the thought of buying these books when chances are good I’ll toss them after the exam makes my stomach churn.

Can someone please tell me if I should plunk down the money for the 2015 books or if the books I have are sufficient for preparing for the test?

    Thanks!

Hello…I would agree with your observations about the poor nature of the material. I registered last year and after reading a few chapters of the books decided that the grammar, errors and flow was extremely poor. Without doubt the worst so-called professional study material I have seen. An ocean apart from CFA material.

I’ve since got a full refund and decided to do another Risk qualification. Good luck if you plan on reading the books for 2015…you’ll need it.

Thanks — I’m glad it wasn’t me. I’ve seen people defend these books on Amazon, and it utterly amazes me.

At the end of the day, finance is finance. I’m hoping that a quick reading and some practice tests will pass me on the PRM.

Yeah.. maybe two oceans away! :)
