    Hello Mukul,

Can you provide some tips / advice on preparing for Exam IV? I know that it is the easiest of the four exams, but just in case…

    Thanks

    HH,

Exam 4 is straightforward, no tricky math, and the cases make interesting reading. They are a bit long though, so make sure you keep enough time to read them in a way that you can enjoy them too; instead of forever running against the clock.

Just reading the cases, knowing what the real screw up in each case was should be enough. On the guidelines, I remember being asked on election criteria/timing and how many members of which type etc. So that is a bit of dreary detail that you have to go through.

The readings will be more than enough.

    Hi There,

I wanted to share my experience with Exam IV since I took it last week and just got my score. I passed with a 91. I was surprised to do that well, and a little confused since 91 is not a multiple of 24. 91% of 24 means I got 21.84 questions right – obviously not possible. As I took the test, I counted 4 I know I got wrong. So I think they are grading on a curve.

Anyhow, I will just share how I prepared. I read through the case studies once, and read through again, summarizing them into a 2-page paper for each. That way I could hone in on the important parts (trading strategies, any fraud committed, outcome, regulatory response, etc.) Then I just read my “write-ups” one more time before the test.

Now for the governance, bylaws, and ethics documents – I studied those by highlighting the important parts and re-reading a few times. There will be times when the test asks for specifics on the bylaws, for example the # of people needed to conduct a meeting (and that was just an example, I did not get that question on the test and I do not intend to violate the ethics by sharing the questions I received.) Definintely know specifics, but don’t overprepare – save the overpreparing for the other 3 harder tests! Oviously with a 91, I studied a little too hard. Good luck!

    Hi there,

I need to know do i need to buy the PRM hand book for preparing for exam 4 or the free material provided on the site is enough. So i can just download that and take the exam no other book required apart from material provided on site ?

    Hi there,
For PRM IV exam, I want to learn from you about how to prepare for the exam IV since there are only some cases and Bylaws.
Is it sufficient that I just follow the PRMIA’s Self Study Guide for Exam IV? I read through the study guide provided by PRMIA and also all the documents for the case and bylaws and I found that the documents have a lot more information than the study guild provided. So just want to sure I am on the right track.
    Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi frank, from personal experience, PRM exam 4 is not too bad. No technical concepts or math, it’s straight memorization. I read through all the case studies, by laws, etc to get a high level understanding of what happened. Then I read them one by one again using the learning objectives. I didn’t do any practice questions. I got 83 on it. Overall if you read through the material twice, It should be straightforward. Passing grade is only a 60 too.

I read through all the Exam IV papers. For me, the trickiest one to memorize seems to be one of the shortest papers: Principles of good governance. It has big matrices of governance requirements vs. principles. It is not always straightforward to remember where the tickmarks should go. E.g. when board is required to review highly compensated positions, the principle called ‘compensation architecture’ does not apply…

I think if you read the forums on here and elsewhere you would think that PRMIA exam 4 can be passed by just reading the case studies twice. I don’t agree with that.

Don’t get me wrong its the easiest exam but you need to learn and remember the material. I had a few questions on Governance in my paper something I admittedly did not revise thoroughly.

You can only get 9 questions wrong so its pretty easy to overlook a part of the syllabus, get a few questions on the part you did not cover and then all sudden your in need of doing very well in the rest of the paper.
