In Mathematical Foundations PRM book, many problems are solved using excel functions.
Are we allowed to use excel and excel functions in exam.

You can’t use Excel. All that is available is a Windows-style calculator, which is all you need. The exam’s focus is not so much on detailed computation, more about concepts. For example, you won’t be asked to compute skewness of a distribution but you might be asked about what inferences you can draw about skewness if the median is less than the mean. Riskprep has lots of useful questions that test your understanding of concepts, without having to perform lengthy calculations.

As Jim says, all you can use is a Windows calculator. DO NOT WAIT TILL THE DATE OF THE EXAM TO TRY IT OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME. It is not difficult, but has its quirks, so keep 20 minutes to practice on that at home. Here is a link to an old posting that explains the key features you will need to be aware of.

    Good luck!
