PRM Materials
April 28, 2011 at 10:21 am #486AnonymousGuestHello,
I’m planning to take all four exams once but I have a doubt regarding the PRM handbook. I have the original handbook published in 2004, but I read that for Exam III there are some changes and exits a new handbook that includes this changes. On the website there is no reference regarding this changes and the handbook for sale has the same list of contents as the handbook that I have. Does anyone know if there for any of the exams and, in this case, if there is a possibility to upgrade my handbook and not to buy a new one because is kind of expansive?
Thank you,
Bianca
April 29, 2011 at 8:44 am #487AnonymousGuestI got my Handbook in 2010, but I still needed to get additional material for Exam III on stress testing, liquidity risk, systemic risk, enterprise risk information etc., some of which are available in “Web-based Study Resources” on the web-site. Right now I cannot find the whereabouts of articles on systemic risk, liquidity risk and enterprise risk information on the website. Maybe they are staring me in the face but I just can’t seem to locate them.

There is a blog post that summarizes the changes to the syllabus, and also provides links to the additional reading material to the extent such material is in the public domain. (Some of the articles are available on the PRMIA website only if you purchased the Handbook recently):
http://www.riskprep.com/blog/changes-to-the-prm-syllabus.html
In addition, PRMIA are also introducing an additional reading on stress testing by Andrew Haldane which can be accessed here:
http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/publications/speeches/2009/speech374.pdfThis paper will replace the one titled ‘Rethinking the Financial Network’ (also by Andrew Haldane).
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Thank you for your replies but I have another question. I saw that I can order only the material for Exam III from PRMIA web-site and I was wondering if it contains all the necessary updates. Also, if I order it in digital form how is it sent? By email or to a shipping address because they don’t seem to deliver in my country.
Sorry for asking this but I need to be prepared before I take this step.
Thank you,
Bianca
May 3, 2011 at 12:28 am #490AnonymousGuestDigital means you get to access it on their website. They have some sort of Flash application that opens the text up like a book on the screen. That said, if you already have the Handbook, then a fair chunk of the additional material is already available on the web without charge (see the links on my earlier post). WHich means that if you are buying it from PRMIA, really all you are getting are the two papers which are copyrighted by PRMIA. You might think about taking a small chance and leaving them out given you need 60% to pass – so if you prepare well on the others, you might be spared the expense.
But in the end it has to be your call.
