    Questions on PRM Exam

    Hello,

Let me introduce myself as Easwar working in India. I want to obtain PRM certification and I went through the PRMIA for information on Exams. I could not find some information that I was looking and hence this posting the questions in this forum

    a) If a person takes all 4 Exams together, and fails in one or two can he re-take only those that he/she has failed or have to do all 4 all over again ?

    b) Are PRM exams graded absolutely graded ? What are pass grades in each Exams ?

    c) While giving exam, can we go back and forth to attempt previously unanswered questions ?

I would be very grateful, if some one of you can answer these questions.

    Best Regards,
    Easwar

    Easwar,
I’m assuming that if you pass one or more of the 4 exams you don’t have to retake them even if you’ve failed some others and have to repeat those ones. I never actually checked this out myself with PRMIA, I just assumed that this would be the commonsense way it should work. Nothing else would make sense to me.
I’m not sure how they are graded…other people have pointed out that it cannot be a simple calculation of percentage correct answers, otherwise how could you get 84% on a 36-question exam (30/36=83% and 31/36=86%). The pass grade for each exam is 60%, you have to get >= 60% in each exam, not an overall average over 60% for all exams.
When doing 4 exams as one you are given Exam1 and Exam2 to start with (a batch of 60 questions to complete in 3.5 hours, from memory). You can go back and forth between the two exams to review and change answers. At the end of the allowed time you have two options. Either (i)proceed to Exams 3 and 4 without taking any break, which will allow you to go back and forth between your answers on all 4 exams, reviewing and changing at will, or (ii)close off exams 1 and 2 and take UP TO a 1 hour break and restart on exam 3 and 4, with no option to revisit exam 1 and 2. You can of course take less than a 1 hour break, but as soon as you start off the second pair of exams the clock starts ticking and you’ve got 2 hours to complete. Personally, I took a 45 minute break as I was a bit tired after the first two. Incidentally, I’m 95% sure that the time allowance for the first pair of exams was 3.5 hours and the second pair was 2 hours, but I’m not 100% sure, even though it was only a few weeks ago. There are more calculations in the first pair which explains the larger time allowance.
    Regards
    Jim
