Take Exam 4 Last?
March 14, 2012 at 2:13 am #688AnonymousGuestI completed my CFA charter 10 years ago, and have not touched a textbook since (except for reference purposes at work). With the increasing emphasis on risk and sophistication of risk management techniques, I decided to pursue a risk qualification.
10 years ago, one of my colleagues who passed the CFA with me went on to do “the other risk qualification”. I believe he got some crossover credits then.
Having researched both qualifications, I decided to sign up for the PRM as it provides more flexibility in managing my time (what with a full-time job & family!), not to mention the exemptions for Exams 1 & 2.
My question is this: The PRMIA website suggests that the 4 exams can be done in any order. This seems counter-intuitive to me. The core of the curriculum seems to be Exam 3. Surely, in doing the case studies (Exam 4), you would need to draw on your learnings from Exams 1-3 (or at least Exam 3). What are other candidates’ experience on this? Is it better to take Exam 4 last?

April 12, 2012 at 6:59 am #690AnonymousGuestTook your advice & went for Exam 4 couple of days back. Passed with 91! (was just targeting a comfortable pass around 70-80%). Results were out quickly – 2 days after the exam. My mode of study was almost exclusively through flashcards on my mobile device & iPad. If anyone is interested, the flashcards are at quizlet.com (search subject for “PRMIA Exam 4” or author for “Rambus”). Please use at your own risk – what works for me may not work for everyone. Short videos of most of the case studies are also viewable on Youtube. The China Aviation Oil synopsis on Youtube is quite funny!
Just bought Vol III handbook. I was expecting a pdf file, but it’s available only as an e-book. And it’s a real pain to print! Unfortunately, it also makes very dry reading. Is there a way to get up to speed more quickly? If anyone is able to share flashcards or e-notes, I would be grateful.
